What is “From Lab to Legacy”?
From Lab to Legacy is a short documentary, running eight minutes and six seconds, first published by Longhorn Network on August 25, 2025. It was produced by Learfield Studios through Longhorn Sports Properties, and it tells the story of a unique partnership between The University of Texas and Humann that began more than a decade before and expanded when Humann was named the Official Cardiovascular Supplement of Texas Athletics.
The film was part of a wider campaign that won Best Branded Content at the 8th Annual Hashtag Sports Awards in June 2026. That campaign also included a dedicated microsite on texaslonghorns.com and social content built with student-athletes across nine sports.
How did Humann start at The University of Texas?
Humann was inspired by Nobel Prize-winning science and the discovery of nitric oxide. Nobel Laureate Dr. Ferid Murad, was on the team of scientists awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1998. Years later, Dr. Murad joined The University of Texas Health Science Center to lead a research discovery program.
Discoveries from that program, alongside contributions from UT researchers, led to Humann’s founding in 2009 to bring this science to the public in 2010. Dr. Murad joined Humann’s Science team in 2020 and served until his passing in 2023.
What does “Official Cardiovascular Supplement of Texas Athletics” mean?
It is a multi-year agreement, announced on August 25, 2025 and managed by Longhorn Sports Properties, under which Humann’s logo appears on Texas Athletics playing surfaces. It is the first time another brand’s logo has appeared alongside the Longhorn logo across every field and court, from Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium to Moody Center.
Humann products have been part of the Texas Athletics performance nutrition program for more than a decade — a period in which Texas teams have won more than 20 national championships. Humann continues in that program under the sponsorship.
